Former Kingston councillors Liz Green and Diane White have been awarded the title of Honorary Alderman in recognition of their service to the borough.
They received illuminated scrolls at a special council meeting on 13 October 2026. Kingston Council announced the honours on 23 October.
Green served as a councillor for 24 years. Her roles included Mayor, Leader of the Council, committee chair and responsibility for several council portfolios.
White was a councillor for 12 years and also served as Mayor. She chaired committees, most recently the People Committee, and held a portfolio role. The council’s account highlighted her involvement in adults’ and children’s services and local charities.
The title recognises service during a person’s time as an elected councillor. The ceremony was an award to two former members, rather than an announcement of new appointments to the council’s current leadership.
In their responses to the meeting, both recipients thanked the residents, colleagues and council staff they had worked with. The council’s report includes their statements and photographs of the presentations.
